Here's the problem...
You may or may not be familiar with life on a North of Engalnd semi-empty housing estate. Surrounded by empty properties, not because they are poor standard, in fact on our Estate many are high quality, but because people are voting with their feet and moving out of the city. Like many towns and cities we are the victims of an unchecked and rampant housing market. Driven by the magnetic pull of London and the SE large parts of the North are emptying.
What's to be done? Well we've done a hell of a lot in terms of mobilising tenants, gathering opinion, formin opinion, devising alternate plans for regeneration. All over the last 6 years. And to what effect? A few demolitions here and there, but nothing strategic. Whitehall wrings its hands, Hull CC sticks 2 fingers up, communities suffer - Gateway or no Gateway (in our case no Gateway).
This is a blog to get it off your chest in the hope that "The NWRA" Mark E Smith (The Fall).
